Milad-un-Nabi(SAWS) celebrations marked by fervor and euphoria in the Old City of Hyderabad

 Today it was 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, the day Prophet Muhammad(SAWS) was born in Mecca. Every year the event is marked by celebrations and meetings to remember the teachings of Prophet Muhammad(SAWS) of peace and brotherhood for all the mankind.

Prophet Muhammad's (Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam) birth anniversary was celebrated in the city with grand fervour. Faithful thronged the venue Makkah Masjid, near Charminar  from early morning.

There were several other events held in the city marking the occasion.

12 blood donation camps were held at various places in the city. Tree plantation programme too was carried out by students organizations.

The rally after going through the city culminated at Moghulpur in the Old City of Hyderabad.

Residential colonies throughout the city marked the event with celebrations throughout the starting of the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Where Special Naat-e-Kalaam are recited and speeches are delivered remembering the Prophet Muhammad's (SAWS) teachings of universal brotherhood and compassion among all the strata of the society.

The celebrations was to be attended by religious heads including officials of Sunni United Forum, the representative body of nearly 300 Muslim organisation. Forum president Moulana Syed Mohammed Auliya Hussaini alias Murtuza Pasha, Moulana Syed Sayeed Quadri, Moulana Ali Quadri, Moulana Syed Waheed Pasha, General Secretary HAS India, Additional DCP Babu Rao, ACP Falaknum Abdul Bari and others.

And the rally was to be flagged off by Moulana Murtuza Pasha at Mecca masjid.

Urdu conference to be held today at Salar Jung Museum in the city.

State All India Urdu Conference will begin today December 22 at 10.30 a.m at Salar Jung museum, Darul Shifa in Hyderabad today. The government in this regard has allowed the teachers and lecturers of all Urdu medium Schools, Colleges and instructions to attend the programme on duty.

Hyderabad municipal elections 2016 under Civil Society watch

Noted civil society organizations of Hyderabad are going to monitor the coming Greater Hyderabad Municipal  Elections scheduled to be held in Hyderabad in January 2016.

Telengana Election Watch is the collective initiative of the Forum for Good Governance, MV Foundation, COVA, UFERWAS and APSA.

The city has underwent rapid urbanisation in the last couple of years and hence as such, there are wide spread civic issues that need attention of the authorities as soon as possible.

The citizens are facing hardships due to bad roads, improper lighting of roads, drainage issues and host of other issues.

Civil society members will launch an awareness campaign among the residents of Hyderabad and also enrol them for voting. Also the initiative has appealed for citizens to vote in large numbers to make the election campaign a success.

The civil society member hence as such will scrutinize the candidates who are going to take part in the coming elections, they are of the view that candidates with clean track record are to be promoted.


Municipal elections likely to be held in Hyderabad in January 2016

Political atmosphere is heating up here in Hyderabad in run up to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation GHMC elections. It is the premier agency which is in charge of the developmental works including infrastructure, roads, lighting, water works etc..

GHMC has under it's jurisdictions whole of the city of Hyderabad. Major political parties in the fray are gearing up for tightly contested elections expected to be held in January.

Some of the parties have already launched their campaign and others are following the suit.

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, MIM is the major contender in the elections, followed by other parties like Congress, TRS, TDP, BJP,CPI and others.

In the last elections both Congress and MIM shared the Mayor post after aligning and hence Hyderabad saw two mayors in Karthika Reddy from Congress and Majid Hussain from MIM, sharing the duties for Five years.

It's still not clear whether the ruling Telengana Rashta Samithi party of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has any alliance with any of the other political parties is to be seen.

Moulana Abdullah Qureshi Al Azhari passes away, Namaz e Janaza after Zohar prayers at Makkah Masjid on Wednesday

Deputy Vice Chancellor of Jamia Nizamia and former Imam and khateeb Makkah Masjid, Hyderabad, Hafiz Moulana Abdullah Qureshi Al Azhari sahab passes away.

Namaz-e-Janaza will be performed at Makkah Masjid, Hyderabad after the Zohar prayers.

Moulana was the Imam of the Makkah Masjid for 25 years, also a great and unique reciter of Qur'an. He was well known for his Khutbah (Friday sermon) and reciting of Qur'an.

He has hundreds of students who had mastered the art of Qir'ath from him and have won several awards all over the globe.

Traffic restrictions imposed in and around the Old City of Hyderabad

Traffic restrictions have been imposed in and around the Old City on account of the Scheduled visit of President of Mauritius to the city of Hyderabad, Ms Amina Bibi Firdous according to the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mr Mahender Reddy.

She will drive straight away from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Falaknuma Palace.

She is likely to visit other places of interest such as Golconda Fort, ChowMohalla Palace and Salar Jung Museum during the course of her stay in the city.

LaadBazaar, a famous Pearls and Bangles street adjacent to Charminar.

One of the famous streets near Charminar is the Ladbazaar. This street is famous for selling bangles and pearls of very fine art and quality. You will find typical bangles which are very distinct to the city of Hyderabad. Every year hoards of tourists as well as the locals shop here and the street is busy right from the morning till the closing time.

Also at the end of the street you will find Unani Herbal medicine shops as well as antiquities shops.

Be it weddings or festive season or for any occasion , you will find bangles of all hue and colour. You cannot park in this street as it is narrow. You will have to arrange for parking at some place near by or travel by a private transport. If it is a two wheeler you can park at the Unani Hospital at the other end of the Charminar and very close by.

After shopping bangles you can go for a cup of Irani tea at Farasha hotel and bakery, which is just opposite to Charminar,  just before Makkah Masjid. It is a famous joint for the locals to sip a cup of hot Irani Chai with Osmania biscuits.

Charminar - The Mosque, The Monument, built by Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah

 Charminar is the 425 year old monument built in city of Hyderabad by Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah, the city's founder.

Charminar, as the name stands has four minarets with huge arches. Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah, after shifting his capital from Golconda, another famous Indian fort, built this monument. Charminar is a famous landmark in India

 It is a legend,  Qutb Shah, in the year 1591 while founding the city of Hyderabad,  prayed at the very spot and built the mosque with the starting of the millennium of the Islamic calendar i.e., 1000 A.H.

It is the centerpiece monument of Hyderabad. Very close to Charminar, other major monuments like Mecca Masjid, Unani Hospital, Falaknuma Palace, Chowmohalla Palace, Purani Haveli, etc., are built. On the nothern side of the Charminar is Char Kamaan, and also famous Gulzar houz. On the western side is the famous pearl and bangles street Laad Bazaar. On the eastern side is Sardar Mahal.

Scores of Tourists visit Charminar every year both domestic and international. The city has grown since and has become very chaotic because of the mismanagement of infrastructure around the Old City area of Hyderabad, particularly Charminar.

Best time of the year to visit is October to March. Even one can visit all of the year the charm of the city is never lost.

You will find almost all you need for shopping in around the city at very reasonable rates. Pearls, Perfumes, Ethnic wear, Bridal wear,  Antiquities, Islamic literature, Unani Herbal medicine shops, famous Hyderabadi cuisine Restaurants, Irani Chai (Tea Flavor) hotels are with in the reach of the monument.
